Tubing Technical: An Exploration in Fabrication

Tubing definition: a hollow form open at both ends, not necessarily round. Explore the myriad ways to make and use tubing. Join, bend, connect, hang, set faceted a trillion stone, hinge, using tubing. Students make a hinged pendant with a trillion stone setting that hangs from a bail created with hand-made bent tubing. Optional Kit is $45
A step-by-step handout with images and text is supplied. Basic fabrication and knowledge of soldering required.
**Students need either a bolted down bench vise or make your own draw pull jig with DIY instructions provided.
The goals are to increase and challenge fabrication and soldering skills, including, learning to make your own tubing and bend it, hinges, telescoped trillion setting which gives knowledge for any shape faceted stone, while creating a hinged pendant with a faceted stone. Learning these skills frees the maker to create exactly what they need rather than relying only on what is available to purchase. This class is meant to get students thinking about kinetic movement, various ways to use tubing, along with being freed up to carry out your design goals.
